Looking for Octotel fibre at your business address?
Octotel is a Western Cape fibre network, so the first question is whether your business is in its area at all. Below: what Octotel is, where it is known to reach, how to check your own address, and what to do if it is not there.
Stem Connect can confirm what business connectivity is deliverable at that same address: fibre first, then wireless or LTE where fibre is not feasible or the lead time does not fit.
What Octotel is
Octotel is an open-access fibre network operator focused on the Western Cape. It builds the fibre and sells wholesale access to internet service providers (ISPs), which sell their own packages over it. You buy your internet from an ISP, not from Octotel as a retail product, and the same line can be offered by many ISPs.
Its early build-out was on the Atlantic seaboard of Cape Town, around Sea Point and Green Point, and it has since extended across the metro and into other Western Cape towns. Recent builds include District Six.
The practical difference from the national networks is geography. Octotel is a regional network. If your business is outside the Western Cape it will not reach you, and if you are inside it, Cape Town streets are often also passed by other open-access networks such as Vumatel and Frogfoot.
Known coverage
Known coverage is in the Western Cape, including:
- • Cape Town metro, including the Atlantic seaboard (Sea Point, Green Point) and District Six
Other Western Cape towns have been added over time, so a town missing from this list may still be covered. Coverage is street by street, so confirm the exact address rather than relying on the suburb.
Coverage information last reviewed October 2026.
Stem Connect is independent of Octotel. We do not sell Octotel services, and this page is not provided by or on behalf of Octotel. The name is used here only to describe the network you searched for.
How to check Octotel availability at your address
You can find out without going through anyone. The network and the ISPs on it can all answer.
- • Use the coverage check on Octotel's own website and enter your street address. Going direct to the network is a sound first step.
- • Or use the coverage checker of any ISP that sells over Octotel. It will show whether your address is connected and which packages that ISP offers.
- • If your office is in an estate, complex or managed building, ask the body corporate or building manager what fibre is already installed. Access arrangements there can decide what you can order.
- • Check whether the result is connected, passed or planned. A planned area is not the same as one you can order today.
If Octotel is not at your address
If Octotel is not at your address, the picture depends on where you are.
Another network in Cape Town
Vumatel and Frogfoot have both built in parts of Cape Town, and many streets are passed by more than one network. Check each before assuming there is no fibre.
A dedicated business line
Business-grade fibre is a different product from a consumer line, with committed service levels and faster fault response, and is often available in commercial areas where consumer fibre is not.
Fixed wireless or LTE
Outside the metro, in the Karoo or on farms and smaller towns, a wireless link or LTE is often the realistic first option. Both are also good failover alongside fibre.
Outside the Western Cape
Octotel will not reach you. Look at the networks active in your own province, starting with your metro's most widely built open-access operators.
Other networks: Vumatel, Frogfoot, MetroFibre, Skywire. See also South Africa network and coverage.
What Stem Connect can deliver at the same address
Coverage is never a guess. Send the street address, or a list of sites, and we confirm which options are feasible at each one, the realistic lead time, and the right product for the site. We do not quote from a coverage map.
Business and enterprise fibre
Speed tiers and lead times confirmed per address.
Managed connectivity
Installation coordinated, monitored once live, with a clear escalation path.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions from businesses researching Octotel.
Does Octotel operate outside the Western Cape?
Octotel is focused on the Western Cape. If your business is in another province, Octotel is unlikely to be an option, and the networks active in your own province are the place to start.
Do I buy fibre from Octotel or from an ISP?
From an ISP. Octotel is a wholesale network operator, and ISPs sell their own packages over it. Octotel's website can tell you whether your address is covered and which ISPs sell there.
Is Octotel in my part of Cape Town?
Only an address check can answer that. Suburbs are partly covered, and coverage is decided street by street, so use the check on Octotel's site or any ISP's coverage checker.
Is Stem Connect a Octotel reseller?
No. Stem Connect is independent of Octotel and does not sell Octotel services. This page exists because many businesses start by searching for a network name when what they need is a reliable connection at a specific address. We look at what business connectivity is feasible at that address and tell you plainly what we can and cannot deliver there.
I already have Octotel at my premises. Can you help with that line?
Support for an existing Octotel service sits with the provider you buy it from, and we cannot fault-find or change a service we do not provide. If you want to compare it against what is feasible at the same address, send us the address and we will do that.
Availability and lead times are address-dependent. We confirm feasibility before any commitment.
